About Us

Why Sustain 2050?

We believe in the science of climate change.

We recognise that climate change poses financial risks to many Australian businesses.

We also believe that adopting sustainability offers early adopters a once-in-a-generation opportunity to differentiate their business and set them up for success in the coming 'new normal' of a low-carbon economy.

Led by our Chief Sustainability Officer, Joel McInnes, with over two decades in ESG and finance, our mission is to enable our partners to thrive by embracing purposeful  sustainability as a differentiator. Whether that is to adapt their business models to the opportunities that a clean energy economy provides, reduce operating expenses or even get better access to financing from financial institutions or the broader market.

We recognise that every business will be at a different point in their journey.

Whether you are starting out with developing climate literacy within your team, or are looking to prepare your first set of audit-quality climate reports, all the way through to transforming your operations and adopting climate tech as a part of your innovation strategy, we're here to support you.

Our Purpose & Values

At Sustain 2050, our purpose is built into our name: we exist to ensure that the global transition to a resilient, net-zero world by 2050 is a strategic success for every business we partner with. We believe sustainability shouldn’t be a "box-ticking" exercise; it is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build more purposeful, profitable organisations. Our core values reflect this: we lead with Science-Led Rigor to ensure every data point is defensible, Strategic Optimism to transform regulatory burdens like AASB S2 into competitive advantages, and Radical Collaboration—because solving "big, hairy" climate goals requires working as a true extension of your team.

Our Impact & Ethics

We believe in "walking the talk." Sustain 2050 is committed to an ethical, low-footprint business model; we operate as a carbon-neutral consultancy and dedicate 5% of our annual consulting hours to pro-bono climate literacy for community non-profits. While we are currently in the process of aligning our internal governance with B Corp standards, we already operate with the transparency and accountability that the movement demands. We don’t just advise on sustainability; we mean it, we live it.
